Jokowi Determined to Achieve Self-Sufficiency Beef

Food self-sufficiency that the ideals of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continue to be pursued in earnest. Jokowi President promised to make breakthroughs to make Indonesia self-sufficient in food, especially beef.
During a working visit to West Java, Jokowi President took time to review the cattle ranch PT Karya Anugerah Rumpin in Jalan Raya Cibodas No. 99, Desa Cibodas, District Rumpin, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday (21/6).
At that location, the President Jokowi also review the process of breeding quality cattle. The nursery is a long-term program that is expected to deliver Indonesia self-sufficient in meat.
"What we see here is the process in the upstream breeding beef cattle in a long-term program which we expect will we truly be able to perform self-sufficiency in beef," the president said Jokowi.
The President then said that the program is expected to be completed within a period of up to 10 years into the future. It is intended to select a quality cows.
"From the calculations we did, it would be completed between 9 to 10 years because we need to select to get the cows that have the performance that can be used to produce sperm that will be distributed both to the industry and to farmers," he said.
The President also stressed the key of the success of the program is consistency conducted continuously in order to obtain the desired results and remove all the existing potential.
President Jokowi said the current breeding technology in Indonesia already are on track.
"Everything has to be on the right track. Just once again, this needs consistency, do not stop. We no longer possible to divide the cows to farmers without a preparation of management supervision and management assistance," said the President.
Nevertheless, the President reminded that in order to achieve self-sufficiency in beef is a long process. Therefore, for the time being imported is still needed in order to meet the needs of the beef for the community.
"Yes while before self-sufficiency would not want to consume some of the imported advance, because if we do not import it moms good cows to be slaughtered for meat prices are high. This is dangerous and should be avoided," said the President.
Ideal Beef Prices
Furthermore, the President said that the price of beef ideal that should apply in Indonesia is Rp 80,000 per kg.
"I said to commute if other countries that meat prices could Rp 55-60.0000 per kilogram. This is not a story, I can invoicenya directly. Yes we should have here also direct it there so I gave Rp 80,000. It has been calculated," he said ,
The President said it would continue to pursue the realization of the target price of beef to this ideal. According to him, the current government has been carrying out operations together with private sector market to realize that desire.
"Yes must be pursued continuously and I think right now there are 10 state-owned enterprises and private companies engaged in the market to sell at a price of Rp. 70-80000," he concluded.
Earlier, on many occasions, the President reiterated the desire to bring the price of meat and staples are affordable so small people could enjoy meat, especially during the holiday.
On that occasion, Jokowi President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Higher Education Kemenristek on Research, Development and Implementation of Innovation in Agriculture held between the Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Research of Higher Education Amran Sulaiman M Nasir.
After reviewing this area of cattle breeding, President Jokowi witnessed the handover of groceries Ramadan in Cibodas Village Office.
